This episode of Healing In Hindsight dismantles the prevalent notion that self-care is exclusively synonymous with indulgent activities such as bubble baths and face masks. Instead, we delve into the foundational role of boundaries and energy management as critical components of a sustainable self-care practice. By recognizing that an inability to decline requests from others equates to a denial of one’s own needs, we illuminate how this acknowledgment can empower individuals to reclaim their wellness on their own terms. Join us as we explore practical strategies to recharge, even during those days characterized by low energy, thereby fostering a holistic approach to personal well-being.

Takeaways:

Saying no can be the most potent form of self-care that individuals often neglect to practice, yet it is essential for maintaining personal boundaries.

The pervasive misconception that self-care solely encompasses indulgent activities like bubble baths and face masks needs to be dismantled for true healing.

Establishing boundaries is fundamental to an effective self-care regimen, as it directly influences one's capacity to recharge and maintain mental wellness.

Recognizing and managing energy levels is crucial; individuals must identify their low-energy warning signs to prevent burnout and preserve their overall well-being.

Links referenced in this episode:

rise

🎙️ CONNECT WITH HEALING IN HINDSIGHT®

Video episodes → www.healinginhindsight.com /episodes

Instagram @healinginhindsight | YouTube: Healing in Hindsight®

LinkedIn: Healing In Hindsight®

Want to collaborate or sponsor the show? What if we stopped shaming people for how they manage their diabetes? It seems like everyone is worried about my diabetes. But why? What's the big deal? Lots of people with diabetes feel like they're under a microscope. But why should we have to explain ourselves? There's a lot of debate around what the "right" way to manage diabetes is, but at the end of the day, it's up to each individual to find what works best for them. My guest Mila Clarke drops some knowledge on the misconceptions, guilt and shame that comes with living with diabetes, especially as an influencer. It's clear that we need to stop judging and shaming each other, and start supporting one another instead. How can we put ourselves first when there is so much to do, such as taking care of our families, going to school or work? In this episode, I chat with health coach and fellow podcaster Lissie Poyner who has diabetes and Crohn's. She shares her journey of balancing the demands on her time and how she learned that putting herself first was not selfish but necessary for her health. She now coaches others living with diabetes on how to do the same.

Find more at www.healinginhindsight.com Transciption is auto generatedMore about Lissie:Meet Lissie, an Integrative Diabetes Health Coach, Certified Personal Trainer, Neurolinguistic Programming Practitioner and creator of the Needles and Spoons Health & Wellness Coaching Experiences.
